Opera Lighting

As I mentioned before, during this shoot with George I experimented with some odd lighting arrangements. This image is an example. Uplighting is typically used for Halloween and isn't particularly attractive, but when you have a physique like George, uplighting only serves to highlight the musculature.

Parting Glances

Lately I have been scanning film negatives from older shoots. It has given me an opportunity to rework images I captured long ago but never used before. This one is a great example.

Pure Beef

Cosplay

I think this shoot predates the term "cosplay", the act of dressing oneself in costume like super-heroes. It certainly predates the current reboot of Superman that makes much of his early days wearing only a Superman logo t-shirt and jeans.

I dressed George in both a Superman t-shirt and a Batman t-shirt because he not only looked both parts in terms of his physique, but also his face.

Much of the work from this long ago shoot is dark and unconventionally lit, but occasionally the lighting, the composition and the subject came together well, as in this image.

Un-caped Crusader

Something about this rediscovered image of George makes me think he intended to hold up a cape.

Jungle Red

The beefy man in this image is George, a model I photographed a few years ago.
