On a Rock

I worked with Doug Zimmerman long, long ago - first at a modeling workshop, then privately at this location in southern California (Devil's Punchbowl).

This shot attempts to make use of the harsh direct sunlight at the top of  the ridge to define Doug's muscularity. Doug's face is cast in shadows as a side effect, which is not ordinarily ideal. In this case it seems to communicate an inward focus.

Rock Perch

The rocky hills near Porter Ranch in the north San Fernando valley look like a set for the home of the Flintstones. I've used the hiking trails and the climbing rocks in the area numerous times for photoshoots.

Rock Star II

This image of Lance is from the same shoot as the previous one. Just as the last image illustrates the wonders of indirect light, this image illustrates the dangers of direct sun light. Lance's face is almost completely in shadow, although in this case I like the effect.

Lance

This image of Lance Forrest is from a shoot several years ago, photographed at Devil's Punchbowl in southern California.
The location was one of my favorites several years ago because of the unusual rock formations and relative seclusion.
Unfortunately it was also a guaranteed three hour drive round trip even without traffic.
I worked with Lance on two occasions. This time at Devil's Punchbowl and once more in a studio shoot several years ago.
Each time he was in fantastic condition, and I love the dreadlocks.
